Hello,
I'm a new para owner. I just picked up a P14•45 Limited and had it out to the range this evening. I fired 75 rounds of wolf .45 ACP 230 gr lead loads (indoor range). After 75 flawless rounds, the hammer will no longer ####. Racking the slide or cocking manually yield no results. The hammer just returns to the same position against the slide. I'm very frustrated as I've just brought the gun home. The shop owner had it apart, and this piece is broken (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=51112/sku/1911_Sear), it came apart at its mounting point and is in two pieces. It's on it's way back to para to have parts replaced under warranty.

It's been a week since I sent my Para in. Naturally curious, I called my shop to see if they had any new developments on it's status. My shop gave the phone number of the repair shop. I called and eventually spoke to someone fluent in English. Apparently the Para gunsmith shows up at his leisure, every couple weeks. They didn't know when he would be in again, and the best they could do was take my name and number and try to have the smith call me when he shows up. Is this normal for Para? I've fired 70 rounds through this gun, and had an uncommon failure. On top of that, they can't even give me a ballpark as to how long it'll take to be repaired?

I e-mailed Para about the issue, and I haven't heard back from them either. I'll give them a few days and I'll be forced to call them. I'm not the only one that thinks this is unreasonable right?

I should have bought a kimber....

ha::popCorn: from what i have heard they will take there sweet time It's been a week you'll be looking at months

Did you shoot factory or reloaded ammo? If reloads, you may not even get it covered by warranty. Either way, if I were you I'd just get a new part and have it replaced rather than dealing with manufacturer and wait even if it were 2-3 weeks.
Unless the frame got cracked, it's not worth time and anything.

Agree w/ CZeer. Change the part(s) to something reliable. On my previous P14-45 Limited (traded away), when it first arrived (bought used from EE), proceeded to improve the trigger by replacing the factory sear and disconnector with those made by STI. My smith (not a fan of Para) did some other minor parts and the trigger action was crisp and reliable. The new owner continues to appreciate its accuracy too. The bummer is that your Para is new and the retailer should at least look after you. Just my .02 cents. Hope it gets resolved soon. I, for one, like the balance of the P14. Happy shooting!!!!

I'm curious where you sent it and is it a new para, or just new to you? Did it go to colt canada or parausa? I have had mine into the old Canadian shop before, and yes, expect it to take at least a few months. I doubt too many shops are a whole lot faster by the time you get it accross borders etc. I never actually broke anything on mine, but had some jamming issues. It runs like a swiss clock now. No idea what they actually did to it, but someone 'made it right' that's for sure. Anyways, but that was back when the whole box of noodles was up here in Canada, so I highly suspect that has all changed for the worse. I say suspect, cuz I can't even get ahold of them to get any details these days... but that was the 'colt canada' end I was trying to get through to, I'm tempted to hit up parausa for some answers one of these days. George Wedge was their guru, pretty sure he'd still be with them.
