I bought 5 double-column mags from a member here, 1 was an OEM & four were ProMags.

I tried the Promags in my LDA 16/40 Ltd, every single one of them would cause binding against the slide when trying to release the slide from a locked-open position. The slide would invariably close halfway and then grind to a halt. This would happen always on some mags and occasionally on others.

I noticed where the Promags had additional girth compared to OEM's. So I took a dremel with a sanding roll to the areas in question and voila! The mags on the left are the modded ones.

The amount of metal removed is minimal. The way to know you've removed enough is to apply a lot of upward pressure to the base of the mag while releasing the slide. You'll be able to tell when you've removed enough, it'll be as smooth as an OEM.

Afterwards, I removed and buffed the mag release latch where it holds the mag in place. All mags, OEM & the ProMags, now drop effortlessly and with much less force on the mag release button.

I tell ya, I'm a freakin' genius. I'm sure I'll be given a Nobel or Pulitzer....something, real soon. LOLOL
