I am looking for reliable 8-round replacement mags for a Para-Ordnance single-stack (SSP) 1911. It came with one each para 7-rnd and 8-rnd mags, but I'm not too happy with them. Besides, I need a few more.

Just checking on anyone with recommendations? Experience with the Wilson Combat or McCormick Custom mags in this gun?

I'm sure this question has been dealt with before, but searched.

thanks in advance!

I have had good sucess with McCormick 8 rd Promags. I found the Para mags to be to lightly sprung. Have you noticed any peaning near the slide stop notch? If you hve I suspect it is from the Para mags not pushing the slide stop into the notch quick enough. Seems to be a common problem with the SSP pistols. The Wilson mags are said to be very good as well.

My Para had this problem along with the ejector peening. It was real bad after only about 400 rounds since new.Para fixed it but it took months to get it back.No more problem with the peening but the ejector still peens very quickly. I just file it down whwn it peens out enough to touch the sides of the groove in the slide. I often wonder if they had a problem with their heat treating process. After I got it back, I had to do a fair bit of work to make it a reliable, functioning pistol. It seems ok now ....

I've heard of this peening problem, but my gun is pretty new so still good. The peening seems to happen on the FORWARD shoulder of the notch - which is pretty strange to me since that isn't really supposed to be a load-bearing spot. Someone can explain this?

Anyroad, hopefully the better mags will head this off some.

Anyone have a lead on supply for the Wilson Combat 8 rnd?
