Looking at buying a Tac-Five (9mm) for target shooting and looking for feedback from current owners. One of my concerns is that I have small hands (Walther P99 fits real good). I've tried the LDA trigger and it seems very revolver like (a good thing).. Comments welcome

THks!

It's constructed as well as any other 1911-based firearm. Maybe better because of the state-of-the-art computerized equipment Para uses. They have tighter tolerances plus hand matching. You'll be buying a Canadian-made gun. Service is fine. The para-kote finish isn't as durable as, say, the coating on a SIG, but I think holster marks add character.

I haven't fired one, but I'll bet that the weight of the gun vis a vis the 9mm ammo will make for one sweet shooter with very fast target re-acquisition.

It has a spurless hammer, and three-dot sights.

I have shot the Tac Five and think its awesome. Don't worry about the grip, all but the smallest hands can find a grip that works for them after shooting a couple of mags. As for the "quality" issue, all manufactures have their lemons and you will find similar threads on all but the most expensive custom guns.

I agree with Words.

My SSP had a minor ejector issue that was probably my fault. I was being too kewl by half and slamming my mags in too hard. The ejector did not care for this too much.

It's true that every manufacturer has issues. Just spend some time reading the 1911 boards. Do you want to see pages and pages devoted to manufacturing defects of a particular well-known brand? If you read those posts, you'll wonder how that company stays in business.

After many hundreds of rounds my SSP is as tight and accurate as much more expensive 1911's. In fact, I was going to treat myself to one of the top three brands, but decided that my SSP was good enough.

Man does the Para site stink.

Well troops I'm on the Para site. The CF deal is a very good deal. Any or all CF members should consider it. I'm going for the Tac-Five, believe me for me the "price is right" . Don't PM me for the price, you must log onto the site, since that what they want for now.Cheers

well, its not like they are end user certificate requirements. But then, that would water down the appreciation a bit.

Any CF wanna buy to for a fellow? :D

I wondered how long it would take someone to ask...

One of the purposes of this program is to thank CF members for their service. For those of you that qualify, please keep this in mind when confronted with questions like the one above.

Words Twice

I tought of that the day you posted that ;)

I might get flamed about that but I DO like our military but those day, they get rebate everywhere and they are getting paid to be military. It's the same thing as Police getting free donuts.

I don't know how cheaper it is but they should pay regular price but with the free laser engraving.

It's the same as Police Ordonance giving big rebate to Police/Military... it's a double standard no?

Tell me about these rebates I can get everywhere, I have been in the military over 25 years and this Para deal is the only military only thing I have ever seen. Oh and we don't pay taxes either. Serve your country and not just yourself and you too can get rebates everywhere.

Icefire,

I doubt anybody joins the army for the fringe benefits or the $$
(I remember once counting the hours I was putting in VS the $ been deposit in my bank account... trust me, the guys are not doing it for the $)

This been said, feel free to join and put your but on the line ;) and take advantage of those super dooper saving!

Big thanks to the guys (and gals) at Para for thinking about our soldiers :canadaFlag:

There are great rebates for the military.

No class transportation to garden spots like Somalia and Afghanistan. All the dust and bullets that you never wanted. I'm sure the list goes on.

Besides this Para deal and the VIA rail, I've never heard of any other rebates before.
