I just bought a luger, first one for me. The fellow I got it from inherited it from his father who captured it in WWII. It is an S/42 (Mauser) dated 1937. And my question is this, why does it lack the Nazi Eagle stamp that was on everything they made then? It does have some eagles, but they are different and lack the Swastika.
 
the mauser manufactured s/42 four digit date code of manufacture 1934-1939 will only have military acceptance stamp and miltary proof stamp, no swatstika.
 
prewar build and the nazis hadn't started stamping their foul mark on everything yet. I'd personally pay more for a 36-37 NOT to have a swastika on it (plus they tend to be much better built and finished then the wartime units)

collectors do like the chicken scratch though:rolleyes:

I love the way they sit in your hand and just point themselves. And accurate as well if you can see the tiny sights.....
