i've heard this scope was used not sure but i think it is the same as the one that was mentioned as i remembered the scope was the same as the M40a1's i never thought of this how ever couldn't someoen try and purchase the old c3s since DND has bought the timber wolf ????
CF hasn't decided what to do with the C3's. Last I heard they were thinking about giving a couple to each rifle coy for a kind of DM rifle but that doesn't make a lot of sense since you'd have to run a separate DM course to teach non-snipers how to shoot well.

ETA: I didn't realize that US optics was making a UNERTL 10x clone?

That scope is exactly the same as the Unertl but with improvments. US Optics also preformed the same up grades on the USMC Unertls. If those C3A1's went to destruction that would just be wrong, very wrong.

I heard directly from the LCMM involved that they are going to the smelter....Good old Canada.

At a time when the DoD hasn't much to spend on anything you think that they might try and raise money by selling these to us Canadian's.

Wow, what a friggin' waste. I can somewhat understand sending prohibs to the smelter, but a bolt action rifle? Those are the feds for you, gotta stay PC.

If this is true, than I wonder what will become of the stocks, scope mounts, scopes and mags? I suppose that they'll trash those as well.:bsFlag:

Everything will get destroyed and it is a waste

even at $1000 a peace sold to legitamit dealers they would still come out ahead from smealting them down considering the cost to melt down the metal isn't cheap and the scrap isn't worth nearly as much as the rifle notmention first the have to disasemble the rifles the scopes will likly be reused on the timber wolfs any one notice they come with the same scope i'll see ambout asking a scrap collecter i know what scrapped actions and barrels are worth just for hilarity of how stupid our gov't is i figure there re a few who would pay a few K to have a genuine military issue sniper rifle

AlderTK iI think you need to exhale LOL .The scopes on the C3A1 are Unertls and are considered by many to be inferior to the S&B Scope's that come with the Timberwolfs. If it makes sense the government wont do it

Ok so the S&B are better scope, but if the Government surplused the Unertls, through a good dealer, they could get twice the money the S&B cost from collectors, these scopes are such a collectors items, they would be gone so fast to US collectors adn woudl get a good $$$ for them. Even the whole rifle as a whole, good money could be had for them, but that will never happen. To bad, what a pices of kit that would be to own.

I asked the LCMM why not keep them in stores just in case. His reply was;

Most of them are worn past the point of reliable function
There is no parts supply chain anymore, anything else needed has to be made
There won't be anymore 7.62 match ammo as it won't be required once they are taken out of service.
There won't be a DM type position in the reserves ever, thus they aren't needed there.
If there is to be a DM type position in Reg force he says the rifle will be a semi, they are working with a few different ones right now.

Thus they are bound to be a rototiller or lawnmower inside 5 years.

Collectors would gladly pay the extra $$$ to get even the accessories to make a near authentic clone I finnaly got the POS C3A1 mag to work had to redo the bedding. Mike I would like to look at your C3 A1 clone the AIC mag sounds bullet proof

The AICS mag conversion is the way ahead for sure. We are already working on the next version. There are four people who have e-mailed me wanting to buy an AICS mag conversion for a P-H, but that project will have to wait until after the match in June and after the new CNC program is finished being written.
