Parker Hale 1200TX, M82 Barrel Dimensions Needed

Dear CGN guys,

Does anyone have the above rifle and is willing to give me the exact dimensions.

I need as follows:

-Outside muzzle diameter
-Outside barrel shoulder diameter(the shoulder that is the primary torque surface for breeching up)
-Length of the shoulder - as in distance from action face to the start of the curved taper
-The length of the taper as close as possible

I know that the barrel is a straight cylinder - no taper from muzzle to the torque shoulder.

I'm trying to replicate a Parker Hale C3 barrel from a barrel blank.

Any help would be great. Also, if anybody might have a old barrel laying around, I'd be interested in aquiring it for my little project.

Been a while, but I'm still looking for the info.

Also, If somebody does have the above rifle, I need a nice clear picture of the crown of the original barrel. I need to be able to replicate this feature - some dimension of the crown would be excellant as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Somebody out there has to own one of these.

Sorry, can't help on the dimensions but it isn't straight. Barrel has a slight straight taper to muzzle, believe it's around .902 but don't quote me. It almost appears straight since it has a large step down just past the shoulder.
 
The recent book, 'Without Warning' by Clive Law @ servicepub discusses the C3 rifle. Perhaps there are pictures or names of reference documents that will help your project if no one here can help. You'll be supporting Canadian publishing, and, you'll have a book on Canadian sniper rifles afterwards
 
Stock would be nice - what kinda shape and colour?

I already have "Without Warning", kinda neat. The picture in the C3 section of the 2 soldiers holding them crossed - Sam Lavoie is an ex army buddy of mine.

He was RCR before he became a fellow 421 Wpns Tech - now since long retired, like me!:D

You'd think I would have taken all these measurements before I got out - sheesh!:runaway:

Believe what you are describing gives the overall look, however I still think they have a slight taper after the radius. Was looking at the C3's a couple of months ago and happened to have a set of calipers on hand. Was definately smaller at the muzzle, should have recorded measurements but didn't bother.

They were original Parker Hale barrels, didn't know MacLennan made replacements, since all of ours seem to sport the original barrels.

C3A1 is original PH(being a 421 Wpns tech a few years ago - I sure saw everything. Just too dumb to take measurements when I had the chance), unless it was rebuilt or re-barreled.

Maybe they weren't supposed to be, but like I said, I was just looking at our C3A1's a couple of months ago and they had the original PH barrels on them. Had Parker Hale stamped right on the barrel and they definately weren't a straight taper from 1.2 to .950. Guys are starting to deploy today so it's doubtful that I'll be able to get a closer look for at least half a year.

That's a bit of a confusing statement. Do you mean that the C3's were PH and the C3A1's are McLennan, like Parker Hale Mike believes? Or do you mean that McLennan are used as replacements when needed?

FYI I asked the guys if the barrels ever do get replaced, because I couldn't believe they were still using the original PH ones. They said no, that they still shoot MOA and don't get enough rounds down range to wear them out.

McLennan barrels are the replacements for when the barrels are fubar. PH barrels are actually very nice barrels - last a very long time!

I was a 421 for 14 years - I know about what is what when it comes to C3A1`s.

I actually had to get some ready for the RCR in Meaford before they deployed to Bosnia. Had to replace the C3 Unertl`s because they were the variety reticles that went kaboom. I really thought it was cool to be handed a box of 10 of em, by the navy supply tech on an army base.:D

Barrels actually came in a variety of length`s, according to my NSN`s I had at my disposal. Only places that had the tools to rebarrel were in Montreal, Borden and Germany. Now it`s Diemaco - Colt Canada that would do it if need be. They were the ones that replaced the wood stocks with the McM A2`s.

Hope this clears up the confusion with the barrels.

What I was meaning is that the C3A1 when it was introduced came as a complete barreled action from P-H. It will only run you 10,000 at the most before they are way past their best before date and need replacement. The service replacement barrels were made by MacLennan. Same as Steve David is saying, his post just makes the point clearer. I am amazed that there are rifles out there with the P-H barrels still.

Has anybody contacted MacLennan to see if he still produces or has the C3A1 barrels for sale? If so ....how much? Any body got a receiver for sale?Looking for one.

I know 100% that McLennan will still make a C3A1 contour barrel. I am currently doing a Parker Hale build and I am getting the barrel from McLennan to C3A1 specs.
