parker hale 22-250

Is it a midland parker hale? Midland was Parker Hale's lower end i do believe! Still very nice shooting gun i'm told....Never owned one!

Most Parker Hales work well, although I am not a fan of the Midland variant. Of all the PH's I've owned, they all shot very well. Carefully inspect the barrel on the one you are thinking of buying.

Thanks for the input, took it to a gunsmith and he said its in perfect shape and is pretty much a steal at the price. Ive just not heard a whole lot about PH just that they make military guns now. thanks

Do a search here, the PH thing has come up many times. They started with surplus military actions, turning them into sporters. Eventually they ran out of those, and turned to commercial 98 actions made in Spain (Santa Barbara). These actions are what they built their sniper rifles on (m82, 84, 85, 87, C3, etc). As economics reared it's ugly head, they needed a lower price option, hence the Midland rifles. They are a good rifle, based on a proven design, that will last a long time. Keep in mind that the 22-250 can be a barrel burner if not used judiciously. - dan

From what i hear the midland is pretty much useless, glad it's a ph and not a midland, the gunsmith was doing a deep clean on it, should have it back here soon, let ya know how it sights in, thanks for the replys

I wouldn't say useless, but I would say not very dependable if it's used quite a bit. My opinion is that it was made at a time where the technology wouldn't allow the invention of the Remington 710.
