I am taking apart this old 270 Parker hale I have fallen upon, and the trigger guard REFUSES to come off - is there tricks or technique or parts I should know about or could it possibly be this stiff??

Any tips for removing this will help -

Thanks!

Well, one thing; be gentle.
You never know; maybe it was glued or maybe the wood shrunk. You can try applying penetrating oil and gently tap the guard / magazine top from the top of the stock with a wooden dowell. Be really careful as you can easily splinter the wood.

If it is a detachable magazine model (1100C/1200C), the pin that holds the magazine retainer in the trigger guard has to be driven out, the mag retainer taken off. Looking down at the empty space, between the lips of the trigger guard, you should see a screw with an allen head. This has to be removed for the trigger guard to be taken off.

^^ Listen to the man with the magic hat, his wisdom allowed me to disassemble my 1200C with no frustration the first time I took it apart.

ill try this as soon as i get home - i think this was my issue - thank you very much, fortunately my wife called me upstairs before i got to frustrated and started reefing on it!

I recently came across this magical hidden screwn on a 1200 superclip that I was working on. The above advice is spot on. The pin holding the magazine release lever should be easy to drive out, but be careful not to loose the spring that sits behind it. The alan screw is very fine, so you'll need an appropriate small key to loosen it. Try not to force it, or you may strip it. The threaded lug that engagest he screw is soldered/brazed onto the receiver, but in my case, it had broken loose.
