I inherited a Parker Hale 30-06 (1200?) Safari from my father. I have not been able to find any information on it, parts info, year of manufacture, how to improve its accuracy..etc. Can any one refer me to a source?

It'd be easier to show pics if you want someone to date the PH1200. For general info, the 1200 Safari was built on a commercial spanish made Mauser98 action. Came in either clip model(ie magazine) or floorplate. Just about anything you can get for a Mauser, can be fitted to the PH. The trigger is adjustable and aftermarket triggers like Timney are almost always a drop in conversion.

The PH is a very well made rifle. I believe the 1100 and 1200 were floorplate models and the 1200C, or Superclip, version had the detachable magazine. As Winz pointed out, most parts are interchangeable to a certain extent, others need some sort of fitting. As for dating, your best is to post a pic of the rifle and let some of us take a go at it.

Parker Hale mfg. in Birmingham England until 1991when Navy Arms purchased the mfg. rights, all PH bolt action rifles Mauser K-98 action importation was discontinued in 1991. A single set trigger option introduced in 1984. Model 1200 or 1200M new in 1968 until disc.

Thanks for the replies. I have had it since 2000. My father had it since about 1973. I have stripped it down to refinish it, shoot first, (one moose, 2 deer) ask questions later. I will attempt to post pictures as soon as it is done. Will be taking it out hunting October 1. Comes with clip (magazine), brass Parker Hale stamped trigger, bolt action, Birmingham England stamped all over barell etc. Serial # 87###. I am new to site, only one dumb question today, Is it better to post new thread or continue this one when I try to post the pictures in September? (So you can have a go at it on cgn. Priceless)
