Parker-hale 300 w. mag.... Serial#95889

Hey guys I was just given my grandpas old Parker Hale 300 w mag. The only problem is that it's missing the cartridge. The guy at wholesale sports told me to check with you guys. I'm not sure the model but its not the safari so he said its probably the 1200.... It has a bottom loading cartridge and a Mauser action bolt. Anyone have a spare cartridge their willing to sell? Looking to get it as soon as possible!

You must mean the detachable magazine that you are missing.
These can be difficult to locate and somewhat pricey.
You may want to contact Western Gun Parts in Edmonton.
They may have what you are looking for.
These are great rifles.

last one i saw was at a gun show and the guy wanted $100.00 - ridlculous considering i have purchased over a half dozen parker-hales over the last few years from between $300 - 400 for the whole rifle.

its cheaper to buy the whole gun for the magazine and sell off the barreled action, bits and stock.

.....that sucks! My dad says he has it somewhere around his house but he hasn't found it yet. He didn't think it would be too hard to replace but seems like it might be a bit of a chore... I was hoping to be out shooting this weekend, doesn't sound like its going to be the case though....

They aren't that hard to find...only when you're wanting one right away.
The 243/308 mags are the hardest ones to find.
Put up a Wanted to Buy on the EE, one will come to you eventually.

Dang, W.G.P just emailed me back..... They don't have it. They said its super scarce and probably only available at gun shows for about $200... If you can even find one... Lame....

Well I'm not giving up yet, I'll give it a try in EE. I'm new so I'm still waiting for my for them to let me into that section. All this work better be worth it in the end.....

If I remember rightly PH used Mauser actions so I would suspect that a Mauser Mag might work. (might need a little tweeking but its worth a try)

IIRC - You would need to swap out the original parker hale bottom metal for a surplus mauser one to make this work. might end uo being more expensive than buying a mag.
