I know it's a No4 the M2 isn't clear. it is stamped "Made in England" in an arc
with "Parker Hale" below in a straight line. The serial number is 16###. There is a stamped number 1943.
The barrel is clean, shinny with clear strong grooves, no pitting or rust. The outside on the other hand has some rust spots near the end of the barrel within the last 5 inches. It sports the adjustable peep sight and still has the hood on the front sight. It is one that the company modified the original military stock it still has the brass butt plate with storage inside.
The action is strong and smooth.
Does anyone know what would it be worth?

The other price factor for .303 No.4 rifles is whether the bolt serial number matches the receiver. If yes, open at a higher price. If not, take what you can. But, guys will lowball bid on .303s because they think they are worth less. In fact, the market for these guns is strong. Suggest you clean it up, get rid of the lint and take plenty of good photos. Start at $500 and you might be surprised.

It depends...

By M2 do you mean No.4Mk.2? If 1943 is the year of manufacture it's not a Mk.2, those weren't made until post war, but the wartime variants, Mk.1 and Mk.1* may have been modified to the Mk.2 design trigger (attaches to receiver instead of the trigger guard) in which case they were re-designated as Mk.1/2 or Mk.1/3 respectively. Parker Hale made four grades of sporter out of the No.4 rifles, the Supreme and Custom were the higher grades and they got new commercially manufactured stocks so yours is neither. Some were left with their original barrels, some of those were refinished (blued) and some got replacement barrels made by Parker Hale. PH made good barrels.

Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it (or unwilling to sell it for) but in good working condition it's a lot of gun for under $300.
