Howdy folks,

A colleague of mine has announced his desire to sell off his Parker Hale in 308 Norma Mag. He approached me because he knows I dabble with reloading and such. I haven't a clue what it is worth, he said the stock is a little beat up from hunting, I'm guessing overall the gun would be 60-75% condition. Sorry I don't have pictures of it, just looking for a ballpark figure as to what these would go for. This guy has a reputation of setting the bar pretty high, as if they increase in value just because he owned them! He did mention that at one time it was appraised at 900 british pounds? Sounds like a load of malarkey to me, but thats all I have to go on..

Thanks guys for any input!

900 BP may be a figure if he was seling in Europe. Depending on the version of PH, deluxe, safari. Grade of wood, condition is everything.

Try to get more than 1K CAD, it is not going to happen.

Well hunted version in condition you describe, 4-600 (give or take) depending on version, scope etc.

My dad's hunting partner bought one brand new for under $ 400, Safari Deluxe model (1980 or so price). Just a military surplus action with a replacement barrel and varnished monty carlo stock ( that scratched just looking at it). Good shooter but cant see one being worth more now than original new price.

Actually, in the '80s, they were not made on ex-military actions but from Santa Barbara commercial '98 actions (they started using commercial actions about 1972).

Tradex has flipped a few PH rifles, they listed from $400-$600 and the $600 ones were excellent condition.
I passed on an excellent 7mmRM at the local smith that was on consignment for $375 as it was the detachable mag version, and they don't seat very well and tend to fall out when you are not looking. Replacement mags are not easy to find.

Bought and sold a few. $350-$500 is where they've all been. $600 maybe for one in near perfect condition. Caliber seems to have no bearing in my experience. Even .308 Norma mag seems fairly common.

A Parker Hale Safari model, purchased in the early 60', was my first 308 Norma Magnum. In the late 70's I purchased another PH in 308NM, a Super Safari model I believe, for a relative. I've seen a few 308NM Safari models over the past few years and most, in very good shape, were priced in the $500.oo range.
