Customer said he bought the rifle and was told getting ammunition was difficult.
A search revealed an article on the 300 and 7mm SAUM and the end comment was to look for the cartridge to also come out in 338, 6.5 and .25.
Some how IIRC it never got off the ground and the WSM family succeeded where Remington did not.

The wsm cartridges haven’t really succeeded either. The 270wsm has prospered because it filled a gap in the market with people looking for a .277 mag. 30 calibers are always popular and the only place the wsm beat the rsaum is in this caliber. The rest have flopped. A 8mm magnum was never going to succeed between 30 and 338 caliber options. The 7mm wsm and rsaum don’t do anything that existing 7mm already do. The wssm are just short ballistic copies of existing cartridges.

338 SAUM would be a wildcat, I believe. Not hard to make, but SAUM brass is thin on the ground (I have both 7mm and 300 SAUM's). Could always start with 300 RUM and work that, I guess. - dan
