Ok newb question time. I just inherited at Parker Hale 7mm Mag. So looking through my reloading book I am not seeing that particular caliber. I have been told by a few that its likely 7mm Rem Mag but of course I want to be sure before I pull the trigger on it for my first time. Anyone fimiliar with these rifle and calibers?

Parker Hale rifles are great quality and very under appreciated if you ask me. And yes, it is a 7mm Remington Magnum.

Which model PH do you have? Pictures?

I am one of those guys that prefer that synthetic stock tactical style but this is such a beautiful gun. Plus I also got a .270 parker hale just like this one but its been out in the bush a little more being my dads hunting rifle when he was a young buck :)

That's a 1200 C right? Detachable magazine?

If so I have one in 270, fantastic rifle.

Inspect your chamber, looks like it may be full of grit. Lol

I have a 7mm MAG Parker Hale 1200C that is my main hunting rifle. Yours looks to be in much better shape than mine, which has been in the bushes since 1974.

Zedbra, where is the front sight? Removed? Barrel shortened?

Front sight is removed but the barrel is not shortened. Never used the sight and it just got in the way in the bushes - so off it went. Let's be honest, this isn't a collectible rifle by any means, you can buy one for $500 - but it is a great hunting rifle with a nice sloppy Mauser bolt that works even if caked with mud.

Good point, mine still has the folding rear, and th front hood as well, but I like to use irons from time to time. I think a fella would be hard pressed to get $500 for one of these unless it is fairly mint. As I said before, they are way under rated.

I agree, I should have said sub $500 - but I have two detachable mags so I think higher. ;) I left the rear folding sight on the rifle - only because I wasn't sure which way to drift the pin, but it doesn't get in the way so I decided just to leave it be.

I just traded an SKS and 500 rounds for a 1200V with weaver rings in 6mm Remington.
Now I need to find better rings.
Hornady ammo at WSS is $45.00 before tax, so this is a handload only option.

Yours is not a 1200 C it is the model previous before the detachable magazine, I have one in 308 Norma mag. I think it is called the Safari Custom Deluxe............with the roll over cheek piece and Wundhammer swell and skipline checkering and rosewood forend tip and grip cap with the white diamond inlay............Oh man they are spiffy...........
