Parker Hale chrome bolt???

Hi folks,

I have a Parker Hale 1200 in 7mm that i'm working on it to make it better than it was. So, bluing the barrel action is done, Boyds stock Ebony forend etc.

But, I try to polish the bolt today and with 320 grain sandpaper, it barely made a scratch on it...

Does this bolt is chromed? It have some rust and pitting on it and I just want to remove these spot.

You need a cotton wheel with jewelers rouge

Absolutely useless on rust...

400 grit on a buffing wheel first...

Sand paper, in general, is ineffective on metals, especially those that are hardened. If you use proper emery cloth, you'll have better results. It's available at any industrial supply store.
