Have a Parker Hale in .308 and have lost or misplaced the clip. It appears they are hard to find, so is it possible to convert this to a drop floor plate mechanism? Any and all help appreciated. Tnx.

Interesting. Almost all gun people I have contacted have said there are three clips: a short action(243,308) a long action (270-3006), and a mag clip. They may be the same size physically, but you cannot make a 308 clip from a 3006 clip. Is my info wrong? It would sure make things easier if all three would work in one clip. Tnx

" Not quite. The strengthening impressions, done when the bodies of the mag are stamped, are in different spots."

I have heard this also.

I have a Parker Hale "Safari" in .308. It came with a clip marked ".30-06" and it would never feed properly. My son lost a beautiful buck 'cause it jammed up on him trying to feed a 2nd shot. I finally found a ".308" clip and all is well.

The receiver feed rails normally on a M98 with an internal magazine are machined off to allow the clip to function so converting it to a hinged floor plate is not really possible.

Geez I hope I used all the proper terminology in regards to clip, mag, floor plate, etc. I don't want to derail this thread with a mag vs clip argument.:p

The follower on the magnum magazine is flat, whereas the followers on the non-belted rounds are contoured.
