I have a ph 1200 in 30-06.I need to know if there is a replacement recoil pad for this rifle. I checked out both big stores in Winnipeg with no luck. I found one that is close but, I really want one that fits perfect. I don't want to go the grind route because gunsmiths are scarce here. Thank for any help.

Someone else may give an answer much more to your liking, but I think it is highly unlikely that you will ever find a recoil pad with an exact fit, unless it is a used one off another PH of the same model as yours. You probably know that PH hasn't marketed firearms for years, and to find an aftermarket pad to fit even more common firearms which are still in production is frequently impossible. I'm afraid your best bet will be a grind to fit. A stationary belt sander is a helpful tool, and I've hear that freezing the pad ahead of time makes the job easier ... though I've never tried the freezing thing myself.

I replaced one on my parker-hale 1100 with a LimbSaver recoil pad. I can't remember the model number I used but I think it was for a Winnie model 70. The pad fit the EXACT contour except being maybe 1/32" bigger all around - I think it's acceptable. I took the old pad off, took it to Wholesale Sports and opened every box until I found the best fitting pad.

Grind-to-fit pads are a super pain in the ass to fit to a finished stock.

I also found a prefit LimbSaver that fit close enough, its 1-2mm too long at the bottom. I printed out the sizing templates and compared the original pad to them until I found one that was close enough. It makes for a long LOP though.

I replaced my Parker Hale 1200 Super Clip 30-06 recoil pad when I refinished the stock. I cut the stock to the right length as the Limb Saver made the trigger pull a little too long. Good luck finding one that fits exactly and does not change the length of trigger pull.

Yes I tried the same thing and found one close a cabelas. Wholesale sports guy said don't have one get a grind to fit. Great help some of those places.

As per Ice Dog's post, I Just ground to fit a used Pachymar pad to a stock from a shortened Parker Hale stock for my Wife. I installed the pad on the stock masked the edge, put it in the freezer overnight, a few careful minutes with the hand belt sander in the morning and I am very happy with the result.
