A just found a set of Parker-Hale rings, marked "RAL S3", for a 1" scope it appears. Can anybody tell me anything about them (how old/how good?)

Thanks.

Not sure about the "RAL S3" but all the PH rings I have seen/own had a bottom recoil stud on one of the pair of rings that located the ring on a grooved receiver (or separate bases) that had an associated round hole for the stud ... the stud was a nice feature. They were generally ok construction of aluminum and ring caps secured with two screws. Not sure of their origins but if they are made in UK be careful that you don't over-tighten any screws or they will very likely strip their threads. If you have the rings And the correct base that's good - if not -- I would not go out of my way to use them if there are other options

These are the most current ring produced by Parker Hale. Your designation means 1" low rings. Do they have a stud in the base? Good serviceable ring....you need a compatible set of bases for your rifle....19mm width. Very common ring....lots around.
