Parker hale safety

So, I've aquired a "custom" Mauser that appears to have a Parker hale adjustable trigger with a non functioning safety. I'm curious if it's possible to adjust the trigger pull down so far that the safety stops functioning? I don't have a trigger pull gauge and I haven't tried messing with it, I'm still a very amature bubba and triggers and safety's make me nervous.....

It depends on which model you have. Modified Mauser 98 with bolt safety or side safety on the commercial action. The commercial trigger/safety uses a bolt lock and trigger block safety. I believe to adjust the trigger down would prevent sear engagement, so the safety would be useless anyway.

Very likely that it's improperly set. The safety on the ph adjustable trigger is a plate riveted to the side of the housing. There is are two tangs on the plate that are bent inward. When the safety is pulled rearward, one blocks the sear from dropping the other blocks the trigger. However, all the adjustments can be made irrespective of the safety position - and like gunrunner said, if you adjust it down it will eventually not keep the sear engaged. With that said, the safety will not engage if the sear/firing pin is dropped and there is a possibility that the bottom grub screw is not set right.

The trigger is very light, at one time I managed to find a schematic online explaining what the three adjustment screws did. I'll have to try to find it again. Then if I can get the safety working I'll see if I can find a trigger pull gauge.
I should mention that it appears the sear releases before the trigg gets to the bent metal tab of the safety.
