I have owned a Parker Hale 30-06 for 55 years. It has a wing safety at the back end of the bolt. It has become impossible to flip the safety up into the safe position. Does anyone know if there are replacements or modifications that would help?

I presume that is a two position safety lever on left side of that bolt? Not sure what changed that you can no longer flip it up - perhaps has been enough wear to safety that it can no longer get in front of the cocking piece? I am going to assume it would be wear that caused the change - not real certain what else could be going on. Left hand two position safety levers where made by FN and Parker Hale - I think right side ones require a small slot cut into the bolt shroud - by Timney and Dayton Triaster, I think. Not sure there is an available source for new-made left side ones - and a "new" one might require to be fitted, anyways. Would be best to have someone who understands those to examine it - and then decide on replacement or repair - might be as simple as a swipe with fine file, or as complicated as TIG weld and re-grind?

Take the bolt apart and clean it first, good
soak in degreaser
Put it back together and see what happens

Have a gunsmith make the required adjustments... without inspection it sounds like the cocking piece is not held back far enough for the safety to engage.
