Parker Hale SMLE

I have a sportered SMLE built by Parker Hale. On the butt socket it reads GR (With the crown above it). Enfield 1914 SHTLE III. It has been rebarelled with a Parker Hale marked BSA barrel which has its serial number struck and renumbered. The bore is mint. I am curious as to who is actually the maker of the receiver. Is it BSA?

The maker was the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield in 1914.

It has been rebarreled with a new barrel made by BSA. There is probably a two digit date stamped underneath all the other markings. With a lot of the markings stamped out, and without better pictures of the markings, it is difficult to tell much more, except that the old girl has been around the block a few times. The large letters could denote a particular Regiment or Unit, and I might even hazard a guess that the rifle has done service in India as the letter stampings are on the receiver and barrel.

Parker Hale sporterized the rifle for sale as a hunting rifle. It was proof fired at the Birmingham Proof House.

Looks like you have a 'Custom', one of their higher-end sporters that were mostly done for the North American market.

You have a first rate hunting rifle factory sportered by Parker Hale. Looks like it had a side rail scope mount on it at some time in the past. These are usually excellent shooters.

Thanks. I have the side rail mount. It is a factory Parker-Hale. I removed it as I have a scoped .300 Winmag Tikka for anything past 200 yards.

Also partially scrubbed out is FTR 195* I can't see the last number but it looks like a 3. It is right where the scope mount holes are drilled.

Is it necessary to check headspace on these? I would think not as that would have been done at PH. What say ye? (I say this because I have another one on the way)

Another rifle I no longer own the one in the post as my buddy took a lend of it and wouldn't give it back So I had to replace it. So I replaced it with this one.

the front sight it too high and narrow and the fore stock has a cap. Chruchill arms??

It could be. I just assumed it was a Parker-Hale. Either way it's a nice factory sporter.

Edit: I just looked at this ad and it has the exact checkering and hi sight as the Supreme no.1

I guess it was a Churchill Anyways I am missing the little screw that goes at the back of the cocking knob to keep it safetied. If anyone has one kicking around please let me know.
