More than likely a model 1200.
Good solid platform, basically a Mauser 98 with a pretty nice trigger assembly.
Barrels are usually 4 groove, and normally they have a decent reputation for accuracy. The stock design however, have a lot to be desired, some have roll over cheek pieces, which make shooting them from the off side impossible, while others have knife edge butt dimensions which make them seem to kick like a mule. And the boxy back lash fore end is quite garish in my opinion.

They can be beautiful or ugly rifles depending on what model you get. Mine shoots extremely well and has extremely nice wood. I was lucky enough to buy it off of my friends dad for a great price.Mine is a safari in 308 Win.

Hey Doug, a 7mm will shine over on your side of the island come deer season.
You'll have to swing by and bring it with you so I can check it out.
BTW, deer season opens on Saturday this year instead of the regular Monday opener.

I have an 1100 , and like it very much. And a BSA aswell, the BSA has a left hand twist in 7 mag, weird looking rifling, but a shooter non the less.

It was probably built for use in the southern hemisphere. Something to do with the Coriolis Force.

I have a Parker Hale in .30-06 we bought for my Dad in 1968 It's nice gun, shoots great even after thousands of rounds & has a pretty trigger system. 7MM is a good caliber for any game in Canada. I Have a MkII Ruger for a couple of years now. It caused me to pretty much park the old .30-06.

I've had several PH's over the years. They all shot better than I did! Good rifle to get. If you can get someone to look with you that knows the PH's, make sure that it's not the Parker Hale Midland, these are not in the same class as the PH 1100 and 1200 C.

I inherited my grandfathers .30-06 Parker Hale a few years back, and its about the same age. For safety reasons, he hid the bolt and clip away from the rifle, and we never found it. I found a new clip replacement easy enough, the bolt however was a different story. As already mentioned regarding the Mauser 98, I got a new bolt. Its all at the gunsmiths now.
I'm looking forward to taking it out this season. He always found it to be a great rifle for moose and deer.

This is why this is always a bad idea. Bolts should be in the guns they belong to, period. +1 on the PH's, I have a few of them, all great rifles. - dan

My brother has owned a PH 30'06 since the late sixties and has downed many Bullwinkles and Bambies with it over the years...accurate, reliable, and tough...all you could ask for in a "go to" hunting rifle. He went to plastic and stainless a few years ago, but the PH still sees plenty of service as a back-up and loaner every season.
