Parkerizing at home: DIY

Thanks for this! It looks great.

IIRC the one brand of Home Hardware tile cleaner was nearly pure phosporic acid. Manganese dioxide is in the regular cheap d-cells but lots of filler material, carbon I think.

I sent this link to the guy that re did one of my guns for a project.

Now the rifle is at another shop, so I cannot get any pictures. But it's darker than most parking I've seen.

After a long wait I finally got around to testing out the PJ's parking product on a few scrap ends and bits before I decided to do one of my precious guns.

Here is an A2 Gas block a friend set me up with to experiment on. I used a princess auto bargain special blasting cabinet, a master craft 20gal air compressor, 1/4 inch hose and blasted with copper slag. It worked alright, but obviously some more robust equipment would make things go smoother. Everyone suggests allumunum oxide but it seems a little rich for my blood, is it worth the cost?

*** Disclaimer - just hosed it down in wd40, after the oil actually soaked in it looked more even/uniform

After playing around with odds and ends i worked up the courage to blast something I actually spent money on... my coveted S&J Hardware +1 Extension, it was a block nitride finish and it didn't jive with my beat up, parkerized police 870. Now the mag extension looks great and I now have to go find a bigger park tank so I can do the receiver and barrel :p

The gun has flitz gunwax on it, so everything parked looks very flat. I kinda like it.
