Nvm the volume, I can calculate that myself with the dimensions. Are those dimensions inner or outer?

No word of a lie, I saw this and thought what? How much demand is there for people having a TANK (the tracked military vechicle) that needs to be parkerized. Needless to say I clicked on this and am somewhat dissapointed.

Happy to see I'm not the only R-tard out there. :p

pjs products for the park solution. We are working on getting some.

It is also quite easy to make your own parkerizing and blue solutions from locally available chemicals.

CanAm,

Are these used with electric hot water heaters or propane burners? My understanding is you need 3 tanks? One for Park solution, one for hot water to wash the solution and one for hot oil?
Will you give a deal if someone buys 3?

Let me know,

Thanks.

A hot oil bath would be good as a final stage for protecting the metal and turning the finished parkerizing a green hue. It isn't critical though.

I would think three would be necessary though. One of boiling distilled water for the thoroughly cleaned and degreased parts prior to parkerizing, one for the parkerizing solution and another boiling distilled water tank to neutralize the parts after they have finished parkerizing.

A fourth oil tank would be a cool thing to have though to instantly protect the metal and to achieve that green hue that some old parkerized battle rifles have (like my 1950 No.4 Mk1* Long Branch.)

They used to coat the metal with Cosmoline (resulting in the green hue overtime) but I hear Valvoline will give the same results.

BTW, nice score CanAm!:)

If I had a workshop and was more settled, I'd be buying four of them off of you.

I use 3, but you can get away with just 1 if you are on a budget. A tea kettle works just fine as a rinse.

Not to start a multpage thread, but I firmly believe that the fabled "green hue" is a result of over-worked chromate rinse baths in some suppliers. This is evidenced by the fact that guns will often have some green parts, and some not. i.e. some subcontractors parts were green. Also, most guns did not sit in cosmo for very long, yet still had green parts.

I was trained to use 4...but I can see how the 3 would work just as well.

single burner is fine, as long as it will heat to around 200F. just be carefull with balance and focusing too much heat on one area, which can cause crud build up.

just bought one. This is a serious steal. I called local shops to fab one with the same measurements and I was getting quotes of around $600 for a rough finished one with no lid. Thanks Canam for bringing in great stuff and great prices.
