Parkerizing M1 Carbine question

When Parkerizing an M1 Carbine does the piston need to be removed from the barrel assembly as a rule before Parkerizing ? Thank you

I am assuming the OP has a deactivated M1 carbine, or that he is not a licensed verifier and has misidentified his Ruger 10/22 as an m1 carbine.

After all, nobody has a real m1 carbine any longer, they were all declared to the chipmunk-led horse cops and are being turned in for inadequate compensation, right?

yes remove the piston use the proper USGI wrench or you could easily damage the nut (if its in tight) they are also usually staked in

Not familiar with how parkerizing is done but if it is a "dip into a liquid solution" remove piston and replace with threaded plug that will prevent solution from entering bore thru the gas vent hole.

I think it's more critical to plug the bore and breech and gas hole when parking, it's not like blueing that just changes the color of the metal with chemical reaction.
Parking etches and builds up on the surface, I don't think I'd want to subject the bore to that.
