I have a property that is on the south side of a road. It is a farm that has field in the front (North), bush in the middle, field in the back (South). My ideal tree stand placement would be near the very Southern edge of the bush. There is a vehicle path running though the bush connecting the two fields.

I do not have permission, nor would I be given permission from neighboring farms to access this property through theirs.

So where would you park:

By the road (North) walking through the bush?

Drive through the bush and park at the back (South) edge of the property?

Ten feet from the tree stand because farm deer are used to trucks?

Forget hunting, I'm not getting up that early.

I think it depends on the wind. But I would be more inclined to drive through the vehicle path as to not spook as many animals use to farming equipment. If you were situated as the path exits the forest to the southern most field during a South wind you may get lucky catching deer using the path to get to the field.

Wind will typically be from the west, path is North to South. Stand is within 40 yards of South edge of bush. Along an East West deer trail. They are crossing the vehicle path between moving from one bush into the next.

I personally dont think it matters, I know lots of people that park their quad directly beneath their stand and shoot huge bucks every year.

I was out last night on stand. I park a good 1/2 mile from the stand and as has happened many times I spot deer feeding less than 200 yards from the truck. In fact the buck in my avatar was first spotted just 30 yards from the front bumper that year while I was walking back from the stand. I got him 2 weeks later in the same area.

Hell in agricultural country your truck would make the best blind if it was legal.
