part swap off the start for your m305

had the same problem with my 305, it's not the rear sight(if it is functioning properly, you turn the knob and it moves the sight) it's the front sight. got a NM front , problem solved. the chicom one is too tall. get an NM front, they are slick.

It was buried somewhere in the stickies I think.
Hungry and Skullboy kinda looked after the stickies so I dunno if it's still in there.
 
thanks guys of the input, so it looks like it comes down to the op rode and the spring...not to worried about the sights yet, i just don't want to have a very common failure on something that could have been preventable. loosening everything up and tighten everything back down again seems like a wise decision and a bonus for more out of the box adjustment info, so thanks for that as well.

The op rod spring guide and spring aren't the big replacement issues. It's just nice to swap them out for something nicer.
The rear sight can be an issue because often with Norc's, the sight is loose (obviously affecting accuracy) or shakes loose after a couple packs of ammo.

If you're concerned about failures or preventable problems, check the following:
1) check to see if the barrel is correctly indexed to the receiver and if the op rod guide is loose (and also if it's indexed properly to the receiver and barrel)
2) as 45APCKing has pointed out elsewhere, you also want to make sure the bolt roller isn't contacting the receiver when the bolt is closed
3) check to see whether the bolts lugs are engaging evenly with their corresponding receiver lugs.
4) make sure the op rod isn't binding on the barrel, stock or receiver

That depends what you mean by quality.
By and large they are correctly machined and hardened using materials deemed to be on par with usgi.
There are exceptions of course. This is true of springfield, JRA and LRB bolts as well. None of them have perfect track records but all, when installed in the right barrel(chamber)/receiver combo are suitable for use, norinco/polytech included. Providing they are machined and hardened correctly.
 
45acp, have you done any hardness tests of recent import m305s? Where on the bolt does one check using the rockwell scale? I have access to these things :)
 
I'll admit, I don't have any hands on hardness test info. Most USGI bolts have the test marks on the top, middle of body.
