had the same problem with my 305, it's not the rear sight(if it is functioning properly, you turn the knob and it moves the sight) it's the front sight. got a NM front , problem solved. the chicom one is too tall. get an NM front, they are slick.
How is this accomplished? Pry off the metal ferule and file the plastic? Any visual resource out there on how to do this?

It was buried somewhere in the stickies I think.
Hungry and Skullboy kinda looked after the stickies so I dunno if it's still in there.
thanks guys of the input, so it looks like it comes down to the op rode and the spring...not to worried about the sights yet, i just don't want to have a very common failure on something that could have been preventable. loosening everything up and tighten everything back down again seems like a wise decision and a bonus for more out of the box adjustment info, so thanks for that as well.
I do not own a Norc 305(yet). I have read lots of good/bad/indifferent comments on this rifle. My question, where does the bolt come in on quality?
