Take a couple of breasts, cut into cubes and fry in butter. Once they are browned nicely pour a can of Campbells cream of mushroom and garlic soup into the same pot and stew it till the meat is tender. Eat on top of a big pile of noodles.

I did this in the mountains once after we stapled some birds to trees with our bows. After a long day of hunting this was probably the best bush supper I had ever had.

Any other bush camp bird recipes out there?

it might sound silly but, when you hunt big game, cut a nice big piece of meat, put it in tin foil, pour the content of a pack of lipton onion soup podwer on top of it, add some cut carrots, onion, cut potatoes, black pepper. Close the tin foil into as much of a leak proof content as possible and cook on embers untill desired cookness of meat

Duck or grouse cut into cubes, sauteed - I mean fried with butter and garlic, then spaghetti sauce and macaroni all in one.

Scrumdiddlyicious!

Grouse Man

A few years ago when I went moose hunting I brought along a ziplock bag of seasoned flour that I had mixed up and after we got our moose we got some grouse and I made southern (northern?) fried grouse breasts, they were great.

Marinade for a few hours in catalina salad dressing, then broil or cook over the fire (depending where you are :) )

Quite tasty but simple.

I do the same, except I take a roast, throw it in the pot and add carrots, onion & potatoe.Add just enuf water to cover the bottom of the pan and toss it in the oven. It's a good dish to serve to those not used to wild game,
Don't mean to hi-jack ya "Gilly" ,But ya gotta agree with me when it comes to shnitzel'd grouse & spatzel made by our 'old man :D

Plain old golden Caesar dressing is great, too, or even just a mix of balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and some herbs and spices. Note: must include some fresh garlic, imo!
edit: btt - a can of mushroom soup is possibly the most versatile thing, ever...
