Just perusing the Brownell's catalogue, beavertails in particular. They sepcify Series 70 or Series 80 when listed....I would strongly suspect 70 but am looking for some confirmation before I spend - which is right for a Norinco 1911A1? Or is it neither?

Norincos are actually pre-Series 70, as is Colt's current "Series 70" replica. The defining characteristic of a Series 70 pistol is a collet type barrel bushing, rather than the conventional solid one. Unfortunately, Series 70 has become the common nomenclature for 1911s lacking the Series 80 firing pin block.

Ixcept the front sight. The older Norcs are Sieries 70 staked sights. The new dovetail front sights are a unique dvetail, more narrow than a Colt. By a Colt dovetail sight and shave it down or mill the dovetail larger.

The Norc - SIG dovetails, front and back, are larger than a real SIG.

Absolutely correct.:)

It was to point out that the NP-30N unlike the other Norinco 1911 style pistols. Does indeed have the Series 80 1911 style firing pin block.:)
Notwithstanding the collet bushing issue of course.:D
