So a while ago I decided to build a gucci AR and spent a bunch of time and effort acquiring the pieces I wanted. Only thing is it took so long to get everything I had time to second guess what I want. I have so little time to spend at the range these days that having $2k plus tied up in an AR seems like a waste and the money would be better invested in something NR.

It's probably easier to move parts than to find a buyer who wants exactly what I did, so my question is, knowing full well that I will lose money selling no matter what, is a pile of parts sold individually worth more than a assembled rifle?

Might be. Would depend on the rifle, the parts and whether the parts would be readily saleable.

Yes because not everyone like the parts you put into the gun so unless you have someone that wants to buy the exact gun you've built, it's a lot quicker to part out.

You'd probably make more and quicker money from selling the parts individually but not a whole lot more. The drawback is lots of trips to the Post Office if the parts are sold to a bunch of different people. Trying to sell a complete custom rifle especially an expensive one narrows down your market considerably. You'd be looking for that one buyer out of hundreds (or more) that has the money and happens to like or want every component you have on your rifle.

IT IS KNOWN parts are always more value than the whole. Question is how much is your time and labour worth?

Always!

Aftermarket parts really doesn't increase the value of the rifle that much, it is just makes it more attractive to the potential buyer than a completely stock rifle.

You can build a rifle that costs the same as boutique rifle, but in eyes of potential buyer it is still a Franken AR
