Passport Photo for Firearms License?

I'm someone who prefers to do it right the first time and not create road blocks for myself because I wanted to save 6 dollars here, or 12 mins there.

With that said, I have an opportunity to pick up some work following a criminal records check. Additionally I need to provide a photo for the ID Badge that will come with the successful paperwork.

The requirements for the badge photo are not at all strict, other than it needs to be 'a clear colour photo of yourself'. I'd like to one up the photo, get a passport photo and get doubles of the picture to also use the second copy for the firearms license.

So I ask: Has anyone used the passport photo for their firearms license with any problems. Generally the requirement for passport and firearms photos appear very similar.

I used a passport photo from costco without issue. Just trimmed it to be proportionally the size requested and it was accepted.

With the cost and convinience of photos from costco being what they are, its not really worth doing it any other way.

that's what I did.
 
I went to Shopper's Drug Mart, and they took the picture to the pal specifications. I just said I need an ID photo and they asked if it was for firearms license. It is different sizing than passport.
 
I've used passport photo's, also took my own with a digital camera, white background, photo paper, appropriately sized and all accepted by CFC.

Yes. I have used a spare passport photo successfully.
 
I ended up going to Blacks Photography in the local mall.

i asked for the Passport photo, but showed them a print out of instructions off the net regarding the actual use of the photo.

The two girls looked at the sheet and replied: "oh yeah, we do these all the time" ... and off we went for the photo shoot

I just used standard passport photo dimensions..there was a language barrier to say the least when dealing with the photographer. Hopefully it wont be a problem! I sent everything off for the RPAL last friday and dont want to have to resub everything!
 
You are not required to submit a passport type photograph
or a photograph that has been taken by a professional
photographer. However your photograph must meet the
following criteria:
- Show a full front view of your head and shoulders.
- Use a plain, contrasting background without shadows.
- Do not wear a hat or sunglasses. Your eyes should be clearly visible
and should not appear to be red.
- The photo should have been taken within the last twelve (12) months.
- Size: the photo should be no larger than 45 mm x 57 mm
(1 3/4" x 2 1/4"). Your head in the photograph must be at least 30 mm
(1 3/16") high.
- The photo must be original, not taken from an existing photo.
- Digitally produced photos are acceptable provided all other
requirements are met.
- Cut the photograph to fit the size requirements before sending it
to us.
