After having used both I have to say NO CONTEST.

Let me say that PM check makers are made well. No doubt about it, quality American made little tool. Problem is that it is very cumbersome compared to the Freechex(clone).

I am going to try to make a couple videos this afternoon to compare the two as that is truly the only to bring across the difference of these two products.

My advice to anyone is to forgo PM and buy the Freechex, you will thank me!

Videos to follow

The plans for the Freechex clones can be found here http://www.datafilehost.com/d/c7a0815b (un check the manager box and hit the left download button)

The next one I am going to try to make

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?200965-Easy-to-build-gas-checkmaker

Fast....I would guess 1 second per check for the Freechex and 1 minute or just under for the PM

Cost? no idea. Say $40 per 6"x50' roll = 3600 square inches....lets say .5" x .5" to make a check plus waste so .25 square inches

some math 3600/.25 = 14,400 so $40 for 14,400 checks or $0.0027 each or $0.27/100

(you may want to double check my math)

On fleabay 250 checks cost $5.25 plus shipping

Interesting. We will have to discuss this more. I ve always been meaning to get into a free chex but the 2 looked very slow and I didn't want to get another press so I could use the 3. I have a hornady 007 press.

I give you big props man. Great work. Seems to work amazing. If you decide to make more and the price isn't bad I may have to pick one up. Yes I know I can buy from freechex etc. But I would rather support our shooting community more then the big name companies.
Thank you
Ken.

Charlie Darnell is hardly what I would call a "big name company." He's a full time doctor who makes the Freechex tools in his spare time and sells on Gunbroker and a really pi$$ poor website. While I would far rather support a fellow Canadian, Charles is one hell of a stand up guy and super nice and easy to talk to as well. The biggest drawbacks to buying from him is the now crappy exchange rate and long shipping time.

I picked up an inexpensive Arbor press from PrincessAuto. In combination with the Freechex tool I wouldn't trade it for anything. I considered Pat's design, but for my purposes I couldn't go wrong with the Freechex system.
