As it's difficult to find high quality close-up photographs with good detail on this early trials rifle, I thought this post might be of interest to some of the more serious Enfield collectors in this forum.

This is a fascinating rifle to study in detail with some interesting oddities noted in the Collector's Comments section of the main Knowledge Libary entry. For example, the long range dial sights are mounted on the left side of the fore-end similar to the original Pattern 1914 .303 in. rifles, plus a long range back sight is mounted on the left side of the receiver. Note however, that because of the experimental .276 caliber, the dial plate on the Pattern 1913 rifle was NOT graduated as part of the original manufacturing process (see pics).

I assume there are more, but according to the CFC who had to create a new FRT number, this is the only one registered in Canada, so far. ;)

We also have extensive photo montages completed for “all correct” examples of the following rare pieces, which we’ll be putting on-line in the next few months.

1944 No.1 Shortened & Lightened Rifle "Experimental" (1 of 100 mfg)

I know at least the other I mentioned exists - I held it.
 
Well, instead of starting a separate thread and since the topic has shifted slightly to rare in Canada, here's another old girl we've added to the library, complete with a 144 picture photo montage.

This is one of only 421 rifles converted by Alexander Martin of Glasgow. There are several entries with pics noted in the "Collector's Feedback and Comments" section of the main Knowledge Library entry, showing font and stamping examples, as compared against pics provided of other known examples of this rare collectible rifle, which currently reside in collector's hands.

I'm not sure how many of these exist in Canada, but from the article research alone, I know there are at least two other "all correct" examples.
