I have such a valise, marked "K. LTD. 1941". I can make out a broad arrow... but not a C-broad arrow.

In good shape, clean, any idea of value?

I've been looking at threads on this, but they seem dated. Wondering about current value.

Check sold listings on ebay. Reproductions have been available for about $50USD. Looking at completed and sold auctions will tell you what people are actually paying rather than what people are asking.

Thanks guys. Good info.

edited to add:

I just measured this, and it's 46.5" opened, and with the end flaps closed and the strap through the buckle, it's 42.5" long.

I got my No.4 in there, but there's no way it can be closed. Same for a SMLE. What rifle was this for?

There are no straps, no provision for straps, and no handle:

Yours is odd. I just measured 3 of mine. Laid out like your first picture they are all 49.75" from the top edge of the flap to the longest point of the closed end. No.4 fits perfectly in them. I have a couple of canvas cases, the same style but made in Australia either very late war or early post war for the No.5, or maybe the Aussie No.6 in anticipation of its acceptance.

Just a trivia point, these are not P'37 equipment, although everyone will know what you're talking about if you call it that. P'37 was actually only the set of equipment carried on the person, not everything made from the same web material.

Great resource site if you're interested in web gear.

WW2 era British rifle cases. Seen quite a few of these over the years. Some fit the No. 4 and some don't. Probably down to poor design and quality control. The outside pouch fits nothing in particular.

Thanks for that website CHB, very interesting. And thanks for that bit of trivia re: the valise. That's the sort of thing my brain likes to hold onto.

I saw on milsurps.com an old thread wherein "Oddbawl" says he had the same thing: a short bag, and no-one was able to suggest what rifle it was for.

I use my short "valises" for PCMR/BC Police marked carbines and for the jungle carbine. Perhaps they were designed for those?

Well, they fit the No.5, but that rifle showed up in 1944. (That was my first thought too...)

Thanks all for the replies. I've put it up in the EE.
