Pavehammer's Kaboom

I'd also like to thank Bear.23 for his amazing contribution to getting my pistol back up and running. Bear, you're the reason that CGN is what it is: amazing.

Now if only TSE would donate a TRP Operator to replace my Milspec... ;)

They are just bits and pieces I had laying around doing nothing.. I figure they might as well do somebody some good..

My kid's going to drop them in the mail at lunch today..

I would get the ammo maker pay for a brand new gun...
It's his fault..

50/50 at best....

Sure.... they may have manufactured the squib, but the shooter let it get past him to obstruct the bore and then launched another round behind it.

If the round was an over charge then I'd be #####ing to the manufacturer, but a squib? No.
If the squib had been noticed and the shooter just unplugged the bore and continued on... this thread wouldn't be here.

Unfortunately an expensive gun got blowed up real good..

anyone who uses a gun knows there is a chance of this happening. I've had squibs and over charges with brand new factory ammo in 9mm, .40 and even in .22's. I've had one squib with my own reloads (and not in my gun either, but in a gun I was trying out). I've also seen factory Winchester with no primer flash holes and even bullets loaded upside down.
Good to hear you didn't get hurt and that your gun only needs minor repairs.
As for the Sig, I'd have to say go for the full meal deal and get the 226 stainless with rail. I met a couple guys at the last IPSC Qualifiers with them, they are gorgeous guns, and got to try one of them out on Saturday night. Talk driver is an understatement, and the heavier frame absorbs recoil quite nicely. Probably the only thing I could say bad about them is that they are heavy and might not be as quick to move from target to target, but then again a lot of that depends on the shooter.

I had a box of Remington UMC .40 ammo that had 6 rounds stamped .357 SIG. You'd think a box of 50 rounds wouldn't have 6 that were stamped wrong but they were. I measured all of them with calipers, they were slightly different diameter and length from the other .40 in the box, although no tapered neck etc. Needless to say I disposed of the rounds that were stamped .357 SIG.

I'm betting they weren't stamped wrong at all. Could be they were origonally 357sig that somehow got mixed in with the .40 and resized.

i just got one and this is an understatement :D :D :D :D i suck at shooting pistol and i can shoot groups like clover with mine

I just shot the pics to the guys over at SpringField Armory, and we'll see what they say. I think that a big factor in it exploding was the metalurgy, and if they say the same, they may just replace it or send me free mags or something. They are always awesome to their american customers, why not one of the four Canadians? ;)

And I'm now raising money for a 220ST, if anyone would like to contribute... :D

too bad they won't be able to ship you anything... They would need somebody with permits to help you... If their distributer in Canada is Nichols your outta luck..

Put a bull barrel in that operator and then all you did was 'upgrade'

+1. That's the route I'd go Pave. Freedom Ventures has big, fat, ###y STI bull barrels for $230 listed on the site. It would be a little piece of that Edge you've always wanted!

You know I want to, Dave!

But now I'm all hyped up about a new pistol, and I already dropped $770 into new parts for the Operator! I don't even have grips right now (Gunner's are what they'll be)!

And, to top it off, apparently there are Nitron'ed P220ST's coming over from Germany to P&D, but in the fall! I don't want to wait that long!

It's just really turning out to be a bad week. :(

I'm sure everything will look up here on Friday, when I get paid. I'll order an ST, send my pistol to Kelly here sometime, and keep working to pay everything back down.

Goddamn, guns are killing me!
