When grinding, one should pay attention. A chain fire of 5 small pistol primers can change the color of ones underwear... Just sayin....

Time to buy a new Lee primer feed for my press...
 
I'm fine... They were Winchester.. Sitting in the feed ramp of the Lee Pro 1000.. Best I can tell is a spark flew into one and set it off.. It then set 4 more off..

Believe it or not, the feed ramp survived.. The explosion went upwards and blew the cover off the feed disk (breaking the retaining stubs). A bunch of primers were blown out and did not go off.

Seriously... I nearly sh!t my pants.. 5 primers at once is very loud in a garage..
 
After re reading your first post I take it was your grinder that sent a spark into your press hitting the primers?

This thread is useless without a picture of your underwear taken after the event.

This is a good lesson for all of us. When using a primer feeder, some very fine granules of primer compound tends to collect, dust like, in corners and crannies of the feed tubes and such. We should all file this one in the "LESSONS LEARNED" folder.

Glad no personal injury was done.

This happened years ago to my Father. He was grinding something near his reloading bench. As far as he knows, a spark ignited a primer, and then the percussion (he thinks) fired off all but a few of the thousand of so primers on the shelf. Big chain reaction. Same response from him, he said he needed to clean his shorts. lol
Lesson learned.
