I got paid recently and this results in going out of town for a day, sometimes two. This one was two days. This is my haul in for this weekend. 230 rounds of 7.62x51 from Gone Fishing in Port Alberni. The Port Alberni Gone Fishing sells 130 round packs of Norinco 7.62x51.... well... they did until I bought them all. I also picked up a .50cal Ammo can from an Army Surplus store in Coombs. Forgot the name of the store unfortunately.

I got a bunch of .223 ammo from both the Nanaimo Gone Fishing and Wholesale sports. Gone Fishing always seems to match there price to Wholesale or in some cases, better. $11 for a bottle of Hoppies #9 from them, $16 at Wholesale Sports.

I found some non-corrosive 7.62x39 ammo I never tried at wholesale sports so decided to give some a try

I also got, what the company of the product call, a .30cal ammo can. I like using these ammo cans as range boxes. I set them up with what I would need for what ever particular gun and when I go to the range, no running around looking for everything, just grab the box for the gun and go. You can lock them too so no RCMP cant say you're not safely storing your stuff. I also got some trigger locks (from Gone Fishing). I'm trying to be super anal about locking my firearms and ammo up so I don't have the same problem that happened in Alberta, happen to me. My range box for my SVT and Mosin is the same box and I keep the Mosins bolt, the SVT's magazine, and a wrench for the gas system in there as well as snap caps and ammo.

Finally, I bugged the guys at Wholesale Sports to look at a bunch of SKS rifles they had. Ended up coming home with this 1954 Tula non-refurb. The goody bag of stuff that came with the SKS had a sling in it but the SKS already had a sling on it but, stupid me said "Oh but the SKS already has a sling on it" when I could of just kept my mouth shut and got an extra sling I could of used on the SVT-40. :p

With my 1950 Tula refurb and new 1954 Tula non-refurb. Just by looking at the picture, the bluing looks way better than my 1950 Tula.

Just a bunch of pictures.

Note, in this next picture, the 54 Tula on the right, and 50 Tula on the right, the 1950 Tula's barrel has been re-crowned and is not chrome lined well the 54 Tula's barrel has not been re-crowned and is chrome lined.

Well that's it for me. Maybe I'll do a range report on the SKS. The SKS is pretty generic though and everyone and their dog has one or five so I'm not sure how interested some people would be in a range report. Could just do a range test on that new Barnaul ammo but have the gun firing it the new SKS :D. Thanks for reading and happy shooting.
