I love sales and try to buy ammo for future use and investment.

I recently realized an order I made was for +P ammo (thought I was buying just 124 grain regular 9mm). I did some reading on this and understand what it is; however, I decided to look at my PCCs manuals to see whether the guns support it. So far...

Ruger PC Carbine / PC9 +P ammo is supported (manual explicitly says so)
Kiriss Vector 9mm carbine - +P ammo can be used but is NOT RECOMMENDED due to significant wear on internal parts (that's that the manual says)
TNW ASR 9mm - I can't find info for this so far about +P ammo support

I went through the rest of my ammo and I don't have any other +P

I am, of course, curious what parts of the Kriss Vector would be significantly worn by the +p ammo. I won't test it to find out.

Not sure whether I should just list this on the EE, or trade it for non +p. Or just shoot it to use it up in my PCCs (assuming the TNW ASR supports it but I will wait till I find that out). It would be used for only 50 yard target shooting, so not sure whether with the higher pressure there is an accuracy trade-off.

Would welcome your comments.

Most PCC's with NR barrel lengths will shoot a lot of factory loads close to +P velocities due to the longer tube. CCI Blazer Brass is one example that speeds up quite a bit.

How is that relevant?

+P ammo isn't a free lunch. Accelerated wear will be a thing regardless of whether a firearm says it's rated. Think steady diet of max loads vs. mid range target fodder.

But accelerated from how much and to how much? Is the threshold at a level relevant to the average shooter?

It's basic legal covering their butts with a no #### sherlock statement. As for what specific parts suffer from accelerated wear, not sure, it's not going to be a dramatic premature failure unless it strictly states the gun will not safely run +p, and if the pc carbine is stated to run it, then run the +p through that, if you're super concerned just sell it on the EE. Realistically 2 of the stated guns state you can run +p in their guns so you might as well run them.

The Hi-Point 995TS manual says it is rated for +P ammo.

Do you have a 9mm pistol? My buddy's Springfield is rated for +P ammo. Bet you could trade it 1-1 for regular 9mm ammo

I wish I did. But no. I didn't buy exorbitant amounts of it, so I may just try shooting it. Anyone know if the TNW ASR 9mm accepts +P?

The TNW is a tank despite it's takedown feature. I really wouldn't worry about 1000 rounds of +p wrecking anything. I doubt you'll run it all through a single gun and even then, it's only 1000.

Thanks for the information. I bought about 200 rounds so I will run it in that and the Ruger.

Good to know the endorsement about the ASR. My kids love shooting it the most, outside of the .22 they seem to enjoy.

It's a good idea to chrono your loads with your PCC.

You might be surprised by the velocity compared to the same ammo in your handguns.

Yes it does, and in an FX-9, that very ammo destroyed two buffers in less than one thousand rounds.
If a lot heavier buffer was used or maybe add a bunch of weight to the bolt it would probably be fine.

Before Thueron Defense sended me upgraded parts for my 10mm PCC, i was limited to regular 10mm ammo, now after the upgrade, i have loaded and bought some hot loads and shot with no problems, huge fun factor.

Great caliber. JP.

That's because the FX9 uses way too light a buffer out of the factory, you want at minimum a H3 buffer.
