PCC'S - why so much love lately?

I think it's mostly a cost/package consideration. There are a few decent non-restricted PCCs under $1k, but few semi auto 223 carbines in that same price range. SU-16, Mini 14, VZ58, etc. Add in that shooting small game without hearing protection in a PCC is a lot more bearable than with a 223 and it makes for a handier/cheaper short range varmint rifle.

I think I'd rather have a T97 than a PCC anyday.

Caliber effectiveness debate aside, that course taught me a lot about the usefulness of PCC's. I just wish I could buy one that I could trust to be reliable.

here here, totally agree with you, seems like the reliability of them are all shiat! I know you can't trust my JR one bit after 600 rounds.

I fired 1,400 rounds through my Kriss Vector without a single misfire, failure to feed, or failure to eject. Not a single hiccup. I'd say the Vector is incredibly reliable.
The last one I saw on a course had a bunch of problems. The owner of that rifle kows his stuff and attributed it to a bad magazine, so I tend to believe him,but it left me with questions about the Vector.

Personally, I don't consider a firearm reliable until I've shot at least 2k rounds through it with good ammo and without any stoppages. So far, the only firearm that has completed hat test for me is my AR. My Glock is getting close after a stoppage several months ago with MFS ammo.

I think that's a decent way to be sure of a gun's reliability. Everyone has their own way of developing comfortability and confidence in a gun But knowing how the vector performed, I'd actually trust my life to one after getting to know that particluar weapon.

Well it's not black, but one of my favourite guns is a Ruger 44 Carbine. Something about a semi auto, .44 magnum, in the size of a 10/22 that gives me that warm fuzzy feeling. My grandfather had one for years and took quite a few deer with it, my cousin has it now and it has dropped a few bucks, and a few black bears. I liked it so much I had to buy one for myself this season. Hard to beat it for heavy brush hunting. I like the idea of a PCC, regardless of the limitations, I'd like a few modern models.
