Hi All, I came in to a little bit of money yesterday thanks to an error in taxes and now I'm debating whether to be responsible or have fun. On the have fun side I could buy one of the more expensive milsurps on my radar. One in the EE right now is a PCMR Winchester so the obvious question is what is one worth? And if not that does anyone know of a nice K98 for sale somewhere?

I saw that on EE and the price is probably pretty close to value at this time. The thing being the are getting hard to find and the price reflects it.

It is alot of money but out of line, I really don't think so.

The guns have a great history and IF that is the one you want then go for it. Remember you always buy the gun not the story, but all of these have great stories.

How bad I want it is the problem. I have a thousand bucks but I'm not sure what I want beyond what my collection lacks which is a k98, something Canadian, some pistols like a P-38, but nothing is screaming at me "Buy me! Buy me!" so I just don't know. I have N04 Mk1 Maltby from Tradex, a Mosin91/30, an SVT-40, a P17, a Mauser C96, TT-33. I actually feel satiated at the moment but suddenly I have some disposable cash. Woe is me:D

Tough decision but it is always good to have a cash rainy day fund just in case the S*&T hits the fan.

I had the opportunities to get a few of them ...but....the PCMR Winchesters would have more sentimental value to a decendant of a Ranger. I thought about it deeply and came to the realization that these rifles were issued to a home guard unit but never saw any military overseas usage. Thus what is their history as compared to the actual rifles issued to those soldiers that landed overseas. Thus I passed on them for early Enfields.

Either more of them are surfacing, or the rifles available are being passed from one hand to another with a profit added. Not too long ago they were selling in the EEs for $550-650. in issued configuration. The Marlins issued are more rare and would be worth more in my estimation. But to each their own.....

Since you want a nice K98, I would say put an add on the EE for a Port contract K98. You should be able to get a nice one for a grand.
Another idea is to get a nice RC and a nice Israeli, plus have money left to feed them.
