PDW Build - Pistol Chassis Selection

There are already a couple of "pistol chassis" selection threads on the site, but they haven't been sufficiently informative for my needs...

I wanted to get a PCC for plinking and possibly get into PCC competition. Since that's no longer an option, I'd like to build a PDW/PCC Carbine using a pistol as the base.

The Ask: Help me select a PDW/PCC chassis.

The Basis/Platforms Available:
* Sig P320 X5 with Romeo mounted
* Glock 17 Gen 3.5
* Glock 22 Gen 3.5
* Glock 34 Gen 3
* CZ 75 Shadow
* Aimpoint Micro with riser - available to mount on the chassis

Budget Criteria:
Package budget - $700 or less (will consider more, but let's try to keep it under $700.)

Other Criteria:
* Compact - folding or retractable stock. Would prefer a folding stock.

Options I've considered:

1) Meta Tactical Apex Carbine Conversion - I like the 16" barrel, but I don't love the overall size. A 16" barrel for a .40 S&W could be great for the "PDW" part, but not so much for the PCC. Definitely not "compact."

2) Kidon Pro. Works with any Glock listed above/interchangeable. More expensive than the Meta Tactical.

3) CAA MCK Gen2. Can also be used interchangeably with any Glock 17 or 22. Don't love the chunky foregrip.

4) Meta Tactical MX-1. See above.


Let's hear the pros and cons and the recommendations. I'm leaning towards the Meta Tactical MX-1 over the Kidon because of price, but I'm open to feedback from the group.

I found that unless the chassis (CAA) in my case, holds your handgun in a firm hold. The firearm tends to move around compared to the point of aim you set your red dot up with.

It is noticable when you put a bore laser in your firearm & then manipulate the firearm, you can see the point of aim shift.

Hence why I sold mine. JM .02

UPDATE...

I spoke with Meta Tactical. They won't ship to Canada anymore. They had an order of their chassies seized by CBSA and haven't gotten them back. Apparently, these are now "illegal".

There seems to be a difference between the laws as written and what's being enforced.

CBSA are making the laws now it seems.

Zero functional firearm parts. In that state a rock would be more dangerous.

Common sense has no place in Canada any more.

Reminds me of a similar "situation" I had CBSA... I had ordered a tube stock from MAC.

EGen though the package contained my Canadian import documents, the ATF export documents... They still confiscated it, saying I was trying to smuggle a unregistered firearm...

When I asked the manufacturer/ATF/RCMP for letters to confirm that the stock was not a firearm... They were all thinking I was pulling their legs...

I ordered one about a year ago direct from Zahal.

It arrived no issues. From memory the box was marked "Toy" by whichever customs person checked it.

I just ordered a kidon a couple of weeks ago. Was here and thought customs in 4 days. I bought it straight from IMI
Have a cz75 in it, and adapters for jericho, g34 and M&P9

Well, I probably don't like the organization as much as the next guy...

But the few times I sent them simple (probably obvious) questions... I did get a simple answer in a timely manner.

Of course, sending them an email asking for the empirical data used to create the various prohibited classifications... Would probably go unanswered.

Here's the final outcome.

CAA MCK in "green"
Glock G19 Gen.4 Custon by Blackbox
Aimpoint optic - T2 (?)
Surefire X-300






Here are some things I learned:

1) CAA MCK doesn't work with the RTF series of Glocks. Nor does this model work with the G34. (Another reason why I would prefer the Meta Tactical)
2) Doesn't work if your pistol has an optic
3) Installation of the pistol into the chassis is easy
4) These were available/in stock at Tenda
5) The front handguard is very ergonomic. Still don't love the look, but it is very comfortable. The support hand thumb is in the perfect position to actuate/depress the light switch.
6) While I haven't taken it to the range - yet - the sights don't move when you press the trigger. Should be easy to shoot accurately and quickly.
7) The charging handle seems to work very well - has a firm grip on the slide.
8) Stock locks in place solidly.

They have other MCK models that work with other pistols. I may grab one for a Canik that I don't shoot very much.
