Like the title suggest, is there any alternative magazine available, other than the factory translucent ones? Perhaps, steel or aluminum one? And if there is, then who manufacture/sell them?

Tried modding a .223 AK Norinco mag, Galil orlite mag and also tried modding a bakelite AK74 mag as well. All I managed to do is destroy 3 mags... stick with the factory mags.

The mags for PE90 are bigger in dimension than, say, AR15 mags, right? So, mag pouches we see being sold isn't gonna hold them in numbers they are intended, is that right? What I mean is, if the pouch is intended to hold 2 AR mags, then can it hold same number of SIG mags?

If you grind off the nubs that allow you to clip the Swiss Arms mags together they would fit 2 to a pouch, otherwise I think you will only get one mag in with extra room for a cleaning kit or what have you.

Anyone know what polymer compound these for the SIG mags?

Something close to Zytel but stronger and less malleable. I think it's still classified as the material was developed by a federally-owned Swiss lab.

SIG 540 works fine

X2!

As for mag pouches, I just cut the interal webbing of standard M-16 mag pouches, letting a couple of SIG mags clipped together fit fine. Maybe not the prettiest, but it'll do until I get Dave Lind at Tiger Tactical make up some sort of custom chest rig/mag carrier for me.

But they will not fit (well) in a M4 mag pouch.

I cut the nubbs off my Sig552 mags and they still did not fit well in the M4 pouches -- it made a combat reload basically impossible -- one reason (of many) I got a M4 as soon as I could.

Yeah, depends on the mag pouch, but I'm using a german chestrig and also have a PLCE webbing, in which they fit perfectly. I'm not familiar with other magpouches though.

You can get yourself a M4, but if I show up with an M4 instead of my issued 550 at my next militia course I get a** raped by my CO and the MP.
