Every time I see you post that I find myself unsure of how to feel. I like it and hate it all at the same time. But I think I hate it because I'm supposed to, not because any of the modern tweaks detract from it's usability.
I hear you. I look at that rfifle and I think "It just ain't right". Plus that muzzle brake seems wrong ina large bore lever that would otherwise be perfect for a thick cover bear rifle.
