Pedersoli Kuchenreuter and Hege Manton

I would appreciate chatting with someone who owns or has first hand experience with either the Pedersoli Kuchenreuter or Hege Manton. While two different pistols they are both quality pistols that I’ve thought about purchasing.

I dont know if there is Kuchenreuter in Canada, but suspect someone must have imported one and I believe there are a few Hege Mantons in the country.

Very fine pistols indeed. Either would be a nice addition. Henry Krank in the UK has Manton in stock.
 
The Kuechenreuter pistol by Pedersoli is something I get to shoot now and then in .36.cal. The mainspring has been replaced four times to my knowledge - the last one I found at capandball's gun store in Budapest - kapszli.hu.

Also, the key that winds the rear sight up and down - a small square-ended screw is prone to failing, although once having set it, you really don't need to move it again.

AFAIK, Hege are no longer in business. Pedersoli make both rifled and smoothbore version of it, though.
 
I've just looked at the Hege set on offer by Henry Krank - they are about 140 miles North of me, BTW. The set comprises the pistol and both rifled and smooth barrels and is offered for sale for £3500 - CAN$5600. By the time it's landed in Canada and taxes paid you might well be looking hard down the throat of CAN$7000 0r more.

You'd probably find that Dave Person down there in the USA could make you an exact replication of a Manton pistol for around half that, maybe less. Why not ask him? From the images he has posted on muzzleloadingforum over the years, I'd have no problems spending HUGE amounts of my granddaughter's inheritance with him.

I did decide to order a Pedersoli Kuchenreuter through Marstar and a friend ordered a Cook Underhammer. Looking forward to these arriving and trying them out.

Tacfoley- when in Ontario where do you shoot?
