I like some of the olderstuff[ie rolling blocks]-but am somewhat concerned about shooting something 100 years or more old with modern loads.That leaves replicas-what is your experiance/opinion with Pedersoli and/or others?

Nothing wrong with Pedersoli. One of the better Italian reproduction firearms.

I don't have a roller, but I've got a Pedersoli 1874 Sharps. It's a good accurate rifle. No problems at. Later I bought one of their higher quality mid range Soule sights. Not as impressed with it as with the actual rifle. I'd go with an MVA sight for only a little more $$$.

I also own a Shiloh and a few C. Sharps. I can say that the Pedersoli is not quite as beautiful (although it's close), but it certainly at least as accurate as any of my others.

If I was to get a rolling block, it'd probably be a Pedersoli. They are the best of the Italian rifles, and pretty easy to get parts for.

I was reading the''Dixie'' advertisment-they have a rolling block 44-40-but it says''this product cannot be shipped to Canada''-what are they afraid of-someone will use it for terrorist purposes?I thought these qualifed under ''antique'' status

Only originals(pre-1898) with a bore diameter of 8.3mm or larger qualify for antique status in Canada

The best quality Rolling Block reproductions are made by Lone Star Rifle Co. of Texas, they also make replacement blocks, pins(including oversize),triggers, set triggers, Gove Conversions, side levers, etc. These are the only R.B.s that are as nice or nicer then orig. Remingtons, even the high grade, target models.

The Rolling Block reproductions that take cartridges sold in the U.S. are considered modern rifles - just like they are in Canada. They are subject to the export taxes imposed by the U.S. government and an export permit ( About $700 U.S.) and an end user report is needed to ship the gun outside of the U.S.
