I have a Russian SKS that had the star and the year peened on the cover. I find this kinda interesting since I don't know why anyone would do this since it's uglier than leaving the star and date stamp as is.
Does anyone know if this was an arsenal thing? Maybe this is a rifle that was shipped to a non-com block country like Egypt and had its markings removed?
This particular rifle has a laminated stock and has a black bolt. Funny thing, it still has the star on the reciever.
