I was looking to fit my Ruger 10/22 with an adjustable rear aperture sight, and I an looking for something that is adjustable, but low profile so I can carry it in a back pack.

What make/model would you recommend?

Just food for thought....
Tech-Sights may have to big of fins on the front site to easily fit in a back pack (or be considered "low profile")

I've got a nice little Williams Peep sight on my 10/22. It screws into the two threaded holes for the rear scope ring. I wouldn't have anything elese on it.

+1 for the Tech-Sights. I bought the 10/22 front tower and the Marlin rail-mounted rear sight, which allows me to co-witness the Tech-Sight with my Adco 30mm red-dot, or use it as a BUI (Back-Up Iron) sight for my 4x scope (using Leupold see-thru mounts)! Best of all worlds!:dancingbanana::):dancingbanana::) :dancingbanana:

Just make sure you buy the tall front post from Tech-Sights, to be compatible with the rail.

that really kicks arse! i like it! the scope looks really high for a good cheek weld though... is it?

edit: that stock has some really nice figure to it.

Thinking about that with my normal 10/22 tech sights, and just cut the scope mount short so that it only screws into the front two mounting holes, and the tech sights into the back two. God knows what I will end up doing.

I have to agree with Wham-O, they're not very low profile. Backpack might be ok, I wouldn't use it as a truck gun.

Ljungman, do you use the original front sight with that setup? Even a taller(or shorter) front sight in the same style as the original would be better in my opinion then the tech sights for low profile.

The Tech Sights are a bit higher profile, but they're very rugged, so snagging should not disrupt the zeroing. I VERY much prefer a peep sight, compared to the 10/22's conventional open sights; much better sight picture.

Indeed, the see-thru scope mount is too high for a good cheekweld. I shoot mostly at close range (around 25m), so I use the Tech Sights primarily. When I use the scope, I drop my jaw a bit to get it in contact with the stock. I certainly wouldn't do that with a center-fire rifle, but with a .22LR it isn't a problem.

The stock is the original one that came with my 10/22. Looks quite nice IMO!

Yes. The standard front sight is used on my rifle. It's as low profile as it gets too and alot better than the open sights the 10/22 comes with.
