I have a savage 99 300 savage and a win 94 in 44 mag and want to covert them both to peep sights or red dot
the 99 is Dand t for a scope but don’t want to scope it
44 has a side scope mount on it
What brand peeps would work best

Climbing Lyman reproduction should be great on the 94.
The regular Lyman all steel receiver sight works really good.
I'm not fussy about tang sights on lever guns.
I had a tang sight on a 99. Shooting prone it was getting close to my eye.
On 94s the tang sights tend to get knocked so u have to keep checking that it's vertical if out hunting.

I understand there are aperture rear sights made that attach using the scope base holes on a Savage 99 - I have never owned one, so can not say for sure.

Below is picture of a Williams side-mount aperture sight - the rifle was made in 1955 - it had two holes drilled and tapped for that sight type.

You might be able to see that the original barrel mounted rear sight was drifted out of it's dovetail - looks like I have never got around to installing a blank in there. It is possible that you might need to get a higher front sight element, if you install an aperture rear sight.

Putting a red dot on the 99 is dirt simple, a piece of Picatinny from Amazon for under $20 mount it in the existing screw holes -clamp the red dot on...done in 20 min.

The (4, I would use either a Lyman or Marbles tang but you may have to D&T a hole in newer models of 94, they weren't drilled at factory. I have mounted & used many with only using the one hole (usually the tang stock bolt) to secure the sight, the curve of the sight base & stock wrist keeps them meshed & secure with only one screrw under normal usage.
