The PEI hunting licences run out on the 31st of march but hunting season for squirrel and crow is year round. I think the 2012-2013 doesn't come out till the fall, anybody know if I'm still allowed to go after tree rats?

If what you're left with is crows and tree squirrels, my answer to your question "then what?" would be to pack up and move out west. Bear season will be starting shortly, and wolves will still be in season as well. And when that gets to be old news, there will be many, many thousands of gophers to deal with. God, I love Alberta! :p

Haha as fun as that sounds I'm more curious as to the legalities of it all, plus hunting tree rats is pretty fun, there's hundreds around my house.

I moved to PEI about 4 years ago and i have seen one, yes, ONE SINGLE SQUIRREL since i moved here. I've seen a few rabbits around, mostly in town in people's yards, but i think they're still open for april.

I talked to chuck in the c-town forest and whatever it's called office, and he said if you see crows, just shoot them. No licence required, use whatever you want to shoot em with. They're PEI's ONLY pest bird species. Bit of a shock moving from Ontario where you couls shoot crows, magpies, starlines, ravens, grackles, starlings, european sparrows, redwing blackbirds, etc, etc)

Might need to buy a fishing pole :S

Haha yep I'll be doing plenty of fishing, I always found it weird that starlings aren't open to shoot seeing as they're over populated and an introduced species, same with feral pigeons. Also rabbit ended feb 29.

Ya I've tried that one the government can't make a good straightforward site, I think they get off on making you suffer and having to call them, although I called the other day and no one in the office could give me an answer.

I get em with the pellet gun sometimes when they're poking around my eaves. There's a couple spots on the house where they've damaged the fascia and are lifting the shingles, and it's legal to shoot them if they're damaging your property. I think it's wierd too. I've seen them on the powerlines while driving where there's one starling every 3 inches on 6 lines for a half mile. Flocks in the thousands, so huge that they're really a driving distraction when they decide to take off and buzz the cars on the highway.

I'm going to have to get a new copy of the regs. For some reason i thought rabbits were open in "every month with a r" like ON.

Nope , sorry but rabbit season is over the end of Feb . Nothing better than a good crow hunt though ,,

PEI is a great spot to hunt crows.

I've often thought of packing the truck up with guns and ammo and decoys and heading back to the orchard I used to work at, and eliminating all the black demons there.

When I lived there ... a lot of starlings got shot, as well. They were the target of choice for teenaged pellet gun expeditions ...
